I have dreamed of going to Victoria Falls for as long as I can remember. I'm so happy I finally got to go. Just being there and hearing and feeling the force of the water is surreal. What a wonderful day this was. And there are a lot of great restaurants in town that I was lucky enough to try, as I stayed for a week. Not much else to do, but it was a relaxing week and the people were absolutely GREAT! The pictures are along the trail that we had to hike to get to the waterfalls. From start to finish and finally Livingstone Bridge that connects Zimbabwe to The Zambia. A little anticlimactic how the powerful falls just trickle into a small pool and then downstream.
*If you look closely you can see people on the other side in the water. I chose not to do that. They had to take a boat out, then climb through the water to get to the plateau to swim.(From the Zambian side) Third picture up on the right.
It looks like smoke. And we got drenched- it was like heavy rains all coming from the waterfalls.
Of course the closer we got, the louder it was. By now we were completely wet. Head to toe.
After making it through and then stopping a really nice restaurant on the river, I went back to the hotel to rest before the Boma Tribe Dinner and show. Upon arrival they paint your face with tribal paint. I opted for just the dots instead of a full face paint.🙂
It was a wonderful show and delicious dinner. I also got to hang out and chat with locals, some of the friendliest people I've met. In fact even the cook at the hotel went above and beyond to please. She didn't even know how to cook home fries, so we did it together! She said that way she'll be prepared for other Americans when they arrive. They also kept checking with me to make sure that I didn't need anything throughout the week that I was there. A super experience all around. I can't wait to go back! But now, on to Cape Town.
