The next day I did another tour of the city. First is The King's Palace. Look closely, they have guards on horseback to "replicate" the guards at Buckingham Palace. If you didn't know the British colonized this country. They just gained freedom in late 1950's.
Then on to a botanical garden in the middle of the city. It was once referred to as a concrete jungle(Kuala Lumpur) and they made a conscious effort to plant trees, plants and flowers throughout the city.
World War II Veteran Memorial. An American architect designed this and it resembles our Marine Corp memorial in Virginia.
KL public Muslim mosque was next. It's huge and right in the city with nice views.
Video from inside the Mosque detailing the building of it etc.
O mile landmark in KL is where all the addresses start from. City center. A lot of national pride here!
There are a lot of buildings left over from the British that the government doesn't know what to do with. I posted this on Monday, but that was the night tour. Sadly another vacant building, but beautiful architecture.
The tops are real copper and were gifted to Malaysia from Australia after they fought and gained their independence.
Next, the River of Life. Where 2 rivers meet in the city center. One side is British. The other side is Chinese and the start of Chinatown. That's a huge lizard in the middle picture-just zoom in.
I video I took while driving. It says "My City, My Community". They have this posted throughout the city.
Chinatown. Chinese new year starts this week.
