Cameron Highlands is the area that grows most of the fruit and veggies for the country and neighboring countries. The first pictures are from the drive up. Some of the shacks left over from the mining days. They mined for TIN. The trees are indigenous to the area and were here during the dinosaur times.
This is in the mountains and MUCH cooler than below. It's over 5000 feet above sea level.

BOH Tea Plantation
You can enlarge the second picture and see who are the major manufacturers of tea. The third is just decoration. Those are from rubber plants, which is used in the production of tea.
Then on to a nursery where they also had animals. It was a nice break.
The second one from the bottom on the right is a huge lime!
Now the animals at the nursery
Each farmer has a stand- basically a farmers market. We got to taste goodies along the way. Fresh just picked strawberries and dried fruit. Chinese grapes, ginger and love fruit. Both dried and fresh. Then Ice lettuce which is sweet and you just eat it plain, or in a salad-whatever. I was eating it right out of the package. Next is fried pumpkin leaves- it's like a tempura batter. Next various slices of sweet potatoes(there were 3 different kinds). I didn't get a picture of the sweet corn- as most of you know I LOVE corn, and we can't get real corn in the US anymore-or rarely- so I ate it up. It was so good!!! Sweet corn and milky corn. Neither needed anything- just ate it straight out of the pot-YUM! Then the next one is a pancake filled with coconut and grilled in banana leaves- absolutely delicious!!! I LOVED that! Last one is a sweet potato donut hole. Also good.
Waterfall on our way down the mountain. The plant I think is chicken head- I really don't remember. The indigenous tribes sell herbs and natural remedies roadside. Also 3 different types of honey.
After a full day, I was dropped back off at the hotel. This is who I used for Cameron Highlands Private Day Tour. Absolutely fabulous! I learned things I didn't think I wanted to know! If you make it to Malaysia, you MUST go with them!!!
